New ‘Tekken 7’ and ‘Little Nightmares’ details revealed by Bandai Namco at Gamescom
Bandai Namco Entertainment had some huge reveals about “Tekken 7” and “Little Nightmares” at Gamescom 2016.
‘Tekken 7’ gets new characters, story details revealed
“Tekken 7” is adding two more fighters to its enormous roster, namely fan favorite Lee Chaolan, and his covert alter ego, Violet.
Because Heihachi Mishima is so in love with the idea of sowing discord in his own family, he adopted Lee Chaolan to be a rival to Kazuya, his real son. Despite receiving the same upbringing any child of the Mishima clan, Lee was eventually kicked out of the Mishima Zaibatsu.
After his expulsion from the Mishima Zaibatsu, Lee founded tech company Violet Systems, which focused on the development of robotic humanoids.
While Heihachi Mishima’s Mishima Zaibatsu warred with Kazuya Mishima’s G Corporation, Lee was biding his time in the shadows. He hated both his adopted father and brother, and wanted nothing more than to hurt them in the worst ways possible.
He eventually managed to do just that by secretly supporting Lars Alexandersson, who became one of the Mishima Zaibatsu’s greatest foes. Lee’s revenge, however, was just beginning.
“Tekken 7” features a Mishima-centric Story Mode that consists of many hours of gameplay. Here, you’ll play many of the Mishima characters, including Kazuya as a child.

Players also have several side stories to unlock through play. One of these side stories is about Claudio Serafino and the Archers of Sirius.
As super secretive organization of exorcists, the Archers of Sirius have been vanquishing supernatural entities from our plane of existence since ancient times. The Mishima Zaibatsu, however, found out about the group, and subsequently invited them to become part of their conglomerate.
The Archers of Sirius rejected the Mishima Zaibatsu’s invitation and the organization’s leader, Claudio Serafino, found himself perplexed by the conglomerate’s actions. He therefore decided to begin an investigation into the Mishima Zaibatsu, and their motivations for wanting his ancient group on their side.
“Tekken 7” will also be getting a new stage centered on Claudio.
The “Tekken” franchise has been around for more than 20 years, and has sold over 45 million units globally. The game already has a massive roster of over 30 characters, including newcomers and a special appearance by “Street Fighter’s” Akuma. Strangely enough, Akuma seems to have some sort of relationship with Heihachi’s wife, Kazumi.
“Tekken 7” is powered by Unreal Engine 4. It is expected to be released early in 2017.
‘Little Nightmares’ story detailed
Developed by Tarsier Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, “Little Nightmares” is a dark adventure revolving around the concept of childhood fears. It has been described as “part dream, part nightmare,” and boasts of puzzles and grotesque creatures.
In the game, you take control of a girl wearing a yellow raincoat named Six. She must escape a massive, mysterious vessel called The Maw, which is inhabited by wicked souls ravenous for human flesh.
“We’ve been working with the ‘Little Nightmares’ project for the last year and, from the moment we came on board, it was very clear to us that the game’s distinctive artistic identity was worth supporting,” said Samuel Gatte, Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe’s Senior Director of Production & Product Support. “Its grim and whimsical universe really sets it apart and offers a singular experience mixing frightening and light-hearted moments. We can’t wait to watch people play it at Gamescom and see their reactions”
“It’s taken us about 10 years to come to this moment, to reveal the most exciting game in our company history, a dark, thrilling tale of grotesque misfits!” stated Andreas Johnsson, the Business Developer & Deputy CEO of Tarsier Studios. “Since publishing the teaser last year we’ve worked day and night to bring the game to life, and now, we are beyond excited to show our first original game at Gamescom, ‘Little Nightmares.’ ”
At Gamescom, Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe announced that “Little Nightmares” will be digitally released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (through Steam) this spring 2017. — AT, GMA News
