Young Justice Season 3 officially announced

Looks like the younger heroes and sidekicks of the DC Universe are getting their time to shine once more, as Warner Bros. Animation has announced that “Young Justice Season 3” is officially happening – bringing back “The Team” – the young counterpart of the Justice League who specialize in covert operations and featuring heroes such as Nightwing/ Robin, Superboy, Miss Martian, Kid Flash, and Aqualad among its members.

According to DC Comics.com, Warner Bros. Animation has confirmed that the series is already in production., and promises “new twists, turns, and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite super heroes.”

Running for two seasons but ending in a somewhat bittersweet note that saw a beloved member of the team make the ultimate sacrifice, Young Justice was critically acclaimed for its storytelling and animation since making its debut on January 2011. The series ended after airing only forty six episodes in total, but it is regarded as one of the most beloved superhero cartoons ever made and has reached 25 million unique views in each of its two seasons when it ran in Cartoon Network.

After longstanding rumors circulated that a third season was underway, the confirmation of Young Justice third season only brightens up the mood of dedicated fans who have hoped for the series to return. Netflix picked up the first two seasons of the show and helped spur renewed interest in the series.  “The affection that fans have had for ‘Young Justice’, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us, “ Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Digital President Sam Register said. “We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.”
