Game of Thrones' Peter Dinklage may join Marvel Cinematic Universe

Those who’ve watched Game of Thrones know him best as the half-man and smart dwarf named Tyrion Lannister, but Hollywood actor Peter Dinklage is a man of many talents and has expanded his activities well beyond the realm of A Song of Ice and Fire, and he just might be included in the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe of films that Marvel Studios and Disney have been producing non-stop.

According to a report on Variety, Dinklage is in talks to join 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War” – which will unite almost every character introduced in the Marvel Movies and pit them against the cosmic level threat Thanos, who is played by Josh Brolin. While no specifics or comments regarding the casting report have been given by Marvel, it’s widely speculated by fans that Dinklage may play a key role in the story – possibly that of Pip The Troll, a member of the “Infinity Watch” who has safeguarded the universe from the powers of the “Infinity Gems” and it’s collected form in the Infinity Gauntlet. If the rumors prove to be true, then it would be a perfect role for Dinklage to play – a man of the theater and who has shown exceptional skills as an actor for his portrayal of Tyrion in HBO’s highly popular Game of Thrones television series.

While this will possibly be one of the actor’s biggest roles to date, this won’t be the first time he is playing a character in a Marvel movie. Dinklage was cast as Bolivar Trask – the creator of the Sentinel Program, in the 2014 movie “X-Men: Days of Future Past”. He has also taken part in the comedy film “Pixels”, starring alongside comedian Adam Sandler in a story that sees the best video game players taking on extraterrestrials who take on the form of classic arcade games to wage war on Earth.

If cast in Avengers: Infinity War, Dinklage is also expected to shoot the untitled Avengers sequel for 2019 back-to-back. — TJD, GMA News
