Deus Ex: Mankind Divided 2nd DLC, VR game, Breach announced

“Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’s” abrupt ending left fans hungry for more. Fortunately, more is exactly what’s coming our way.

Square Enix and Eidos Montreal just announced three new “Deus Ex” experiences, and though none of them provide the satisfying conclusion to “Mankind Divided” that we all crave, they’ll likely scratch that cyberpunk itch until the eventual sequel arrives.

A Criminal Past

First up is the second Story DLC for the game, entitled “A Criminal Past.” This takes place before the events of “Mankind Divided,” and has players assuming the role of Adam Jensen as he tackles his first assignment for TF29.

In the story, Jensen poses as a convict in order to infiltrate a dangerous high-security prison filled with augmented criminals. His objective is to find and retrieve sensitive data from another undercover agent who has mysteriously stopped responding to communications from TF29. While success will mean another victory against terrorism, getting the job done will entail moral quandaries that will test the human being in Jensen.

“A Criminal Past” is launching this February 23. It will be digitally purchasable through PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and Steam. Season Pass holders be able to avail of the DLC immediately upon its rollout.

Breach

“Deus Ex: Breach” allows players to experience the “Deus Ex” Universe in a new way.

This mode combines the action of a first-person shooter with the challenges of a puzzle game. The story is set in 2029. You fill the shoes of a Ripper, whose mission is to acquire and sell classified corporate information. Your activities will involve a lot of hacking, and making short work of the most secure servers on the planet. With the money you gain, you can enhance your weapons and skills. As for the data you unearth? It’ll expose the terrible secrets of the most powerful corporations in the Deus Ex Universe.

“Deus Ex: Breach” for PC is now available on Steam as a free download.

Virtual Reality Experience

Through “Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – VR Experience,” anyone owning an HTC Vive or Oculus can re-experience some of “Mankind Divided’s” most iconic locations in VR. Players will be able to visit Dubai, Golem City, Talos Rucker’s office, and even Adam Jensen’s apartment. These locations won’t be empty; players will be able to reacquaint themselves with “Mankind Divided’s” characters, whose 3D models they can examine up-close.

Just like “Breach,” “Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – VR Experience” is for the PC and can already be downloaded for free via Steam.

“Deus Ex: Mankind Divided” was released on August 23, 2016. It is the follow-up to 2011’s critically acclaimed “Deus Ex: Human Revolution.”
