Swamp Thing debuts as playable character in Injustice 2

Fans looking forward to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's and NetherRealm Studios' upcoming brawler sequel “Injustice 2” will be seeing some humanoid plant variety in the game's growing roster of characters.

DC Comcs' “The Swamp Thing” has just made his debut as the game's newest playable fighter.

Debuting first on IGN and showcasing how the character will look and play in the game’s environment, Swamp Thing is a literal force of nature to be feared and reckoned with.

A tall and imposing creature with the ability to manipulate his body and construct plant-like weaponry, the Swamp Thing enters the Injustice universe to protect all plant-life endangered by humanity and the superhuman community’s war against one another.

As a sworn protector of “The Green”, he is determined to defend it from destruction and fight against those who would seek to harm nature. The character also has a bio card featured in the official Injustice 2 website (https://www.injustice.com/characters/swamp-thing).

Created by writer Les Wein and artist Berni Wrightson, Swamp Thing first debuted in “House of Secrets #92” in 1971 in a stand alone horror story set in the early 20th Century, but has undergone several revivals and was integrated into the expanding and ever changing DC Comics universe.

The character is perhaps best known for his incarnation as “Alec Holland”  - a character who first appeared in the main “Swamp Thing” series and went on to inspire a live-action film by Wes Craven, a TV Series, and even an animated series.

The character also had interactions with occult expert and magic user John Constantine, and was also rebooted alongside many characters during DC’s “New 52” relaunch in 2011.

Expect to see Swamp Thing and many other DC characters duke it out when Injustice 2 hits PS4 and Xbox One on May 16. — TJD, GMA News
