Hellboy 3 'will not happen' –Guillermo del Toro

Looks like fans who were holding on to hope for Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman to team up again for another Hellboy sequel are going to be sorely disappointed, as the director took to Twitter and officially confirmed that he has exhausted all patience and resources to try and get studios to pick up the film.

In his tweet, del Toro pretty much put the final nail in the coffin for the Hellboy film franchise under his supervision. Having directed the first two films with 2004’s Hellboy and 2008’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army, it was a long and tasking process for the director to try and get the project moving again.

His lead, Hellboy star himself Ron Perlman, also kept petitioning and wanted to reprise the role of human-raised demon, but also expressed his disappointment and pretty much put the “For Hire” sign in his latest tweet.

Created by writer and artist Mike Mignola, Hellboy first appeared in San Diego Comic Con Comics #2 in 1993, and has since gone on to star on his own comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics. The character has crossed over various forms of multimedia in addition to the aforementioned movies, and has gotten the animated and video game treatments as well. It’s a shame we won’t be seeing the red horned hero and his BRPD compatriots, but perhaps someone else will pick up the torch and continue the character’s adventures in the future. — TJD, GMA News
