First cast photo of Han Solo movie revealed
Star Wars fans are going to be looking forward to a lot of new material in the months leading up to the release of Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.
But Disney and Lucasfilm have some teases in store before then, in the form of the next spinoff film coming next year and starring a very familiar presence: everyone’s favorite galaxy hopping smuggler and rebel scoundrel Han Solo.
To announce the start of filming of this prequel to “A New Hope,” the official Star Wars website has posted the first official cast photo for the movie—which features Alden Ehrenreich as a young Solo, along with new Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotomo.

Also joining the Millienium Falcon riders is Donald Glover, who plays a younger version of Han’s “Best Bud” Lando Calrissian, as well as Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke and talents Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge – whose roles haven’t been revealed yet.
Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller – the two visionaries behind 2014’s “The Lego Movie” - the men behind the untitled Han Solo film had nothing but praise and excitement to say for their forthcoming contribution to the expanding Star Wars Movie universe.
“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” said Lord and Miller. “We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”
