GoT's Iwan Rheon is lead villain in Marvel’s Inhumans
Those who have watched HBO’s critically acclaimed medieval fantasy series “Game of Thrones” will probably know who Ramsay Bolton is and the man who brought that villainous character to life in Iwan Rheon.
Initially auditioning for the role of Jon Snow in the show, the Welsh-born actor instead got another memorable part as the bastard son of Roose Bolton, and went on to become one of the most sadistic faces in the show thanks to his gleeful smile as he tortured others for his own amusement and gain.
Now that Rheon has exited Game of Thrones thanks to his character meeting a grim demise, he is now pursuing other opportunities… Including one that puts him right into Marvel Studios’ ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe!
According to a report on The Hollywood Reporter, Rheon has been cast as one of the leads of Marvel’s Inhumans, where he will be playing the part of Maximus Boltagon – better known as the charming yet complex brother of Black Bolt – king of the Inhumans.
Rheon is the first major acting presence cast into the series, which will focus on the Inhuman Royal Family as well as their home in the city of Attilan.
Inhuman characters and their powers were introduced in the ongoing ABC- Marvel Studios series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
According the Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb, "Iwan's ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board."
First appearing in the pages of Fantastic Four #45 in 1965, The Inhumans are the result of experimentation by the alien race known as the Kree on early species of Homo Sapien – to be used in their war against the Skrulls and to explore possibilities of evolving their own race. Abandoned and left to their own devices, the Inhumans created their own society and lived in seclusion from the rest of humanity.
The adventures of the Inhumans are chronicled throughout Marvel Universe history, and the characters Black Bolt, Medusa, Crystal, and even Lockjaw the Dog have shared adventures with the likes of the aforementioned Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the X-Men, and Spider-Man.
Marvel’s Inhumans, a project by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, is set to premiere first as a two-part pilot that will be screened in selected IMAX theaters starting September 1st, before debuting as a series on ABC on September 26. — TJD, GMA News
