Disney Capcom games get  Remastered for PS4, Xbox One, and PC

Looks like fans of the Disney Afternoon Show video games that came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System are going to get a large dose of nostalgia this summer season, as Capcom has announced that they are bundling and remastering six titles in their library to represent them in High Definition glory.

As reported by Kotaku, The Disney Afternoon Collection is officially coming to Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and will contain some of the best Disney based games that came with the company’s licensing deal with Capcom. Featuring six games based on iconic shows like Ducktales, Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, and TailSpin, these titles and their sequels are getting full 1080p support and filters that appeal to retro lovers out there. Boss Rush and Time Attack modes have been added as well much like the ones featured in the Megaman Legacy Collection, giving this $19.99 priced title replay value and incentive for fans to purchase.

Based on Disney shows that aired back in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, The Disney Afternoon Collection will appeal to fans of Uncle Scrooge McDuck, Darkwing Duck, Chip and Dale, and Baloo the Bear. All of these characters have been staples in the Disney Afternoon – a programming block produced by Walt Disney Television Animation that were eventually rerun in the Disney Channel and Toon Disney after their cancellation.

The games created by Capcom were among the best in the NES’ library, with Ducktales being notable for its unique gameplay and excellent musical score. That game was eventually remastered and rereleased for consoles such as the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U as “Ducktales: Remastered” in 2013, complete with new animated sprites, added levels, and voice acting led by original Scrooge McDuck voice actor – the late Alan Young.

The Disney Afternoon Collection will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 18 this year. — TJD, GMA News
