Soul of Chogokin Gipsy Danger teased online

In partnership with toy maker Bandai, the Legendary film company has just revealed the upcoming release of a Gipsy Danger figure as part of the Soul of Chogokin (SoC) series—a popular line of adult collectors' toys that showcases super robots and mecha from popular anime and live-action TV shows.

In its official Facebook page, Legendary Pictures teased a silhouetted prototype SoC figure of the movie Pacific Rim's iconic Gipsy Danger standing proud and tall on display.

As the leading protagonist “Jaeger” robot that serves as the poster boy of the franchise, Gipsy Danger is the ultimate realization of a live action Hollywood robot that defends humanity from alien monsters or “Kaiju” in the events of Pacific Rim.

Originally piloted by the Becket brothers Yancy and Raleigh, the unit was heavily damaged during a Kaiju fight in the opening act of the film resulting in the elder brother’s demise. The rest of Pacific Rim would ultimately see Gipsy Ranger repaired and restored to activity duty, with Raleigh gaining a new co-pilot in Mako Mori and playing an important role in humanity’s final stand against the Kaiju in the events of the film.

As a sought out and popular brand of toys manufactured by Bandai, Soul of Chogokin or “Soul of Super-Alloy” is appropriately named after the same material that makes up the armor of the legendary Japanese super robot Mazinger Z.

Starting in 1997 and using a combination of die-cast and plastic parts, the series has gained notoriety for producing a trusted line of Super Robot figures—which includes the aforementioned Mazinger Z and its successors Great Mazinger and Grendizer among its line of figures.

Other popular brands such as the Japanese sentai programs have gotten the SoC treatment including Zyurager—which is the Japanese program that is the basis the American adapted Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.  — TJD, GMA News
