Seth McFarlane's new sci-fi comedy 'The Orville' set to launch

Seth Macfarlane is known for a lot of comedies and films, and as the creator of the critically acclaimed animated TV Series “Family Guy” and the Ted film series, he’s on top of the world when it comes to being one of America’s leading funny guys. Now the filmmaker and actor is putting his talents to going beyond the stars, as Macfarlane gathers an unlikely crew to bring a funny side to space exploration and adventure with a brand new science fiction comedy series called “The Orville”.

As revealed by CNet, Macfarlane tweeted the announcement of his upcoming new comedy series, where he will assume the lead role as commanding officer.

As something that looks like the “Star Trek” spoof film “Galaxy Quest” but as a  TV Series, The Orville is everything you can imagine going wrong when you send an overconfident Captain to navigate the stars with a multicultural interstellar crew with their own sets of issues. Plus the fact that Macfarlane’s character’s ex-wife is onboard as his “Number One”, and you have a dysfunctional couple bringing their domestic issues to space where no one has gone before... Literally.

Executive produced by Macfarlane and “Iron Man” director Jon Favreau, The Orville also stars Adrianne Palicki, Scott Grimes, Penny Johnson Jerald, and Peter Macon. The series will premiere on Fox and is set for a fall premiere for the 2017-2018 network television schedule.  — TJD, GMA News
