‘Star Ocean: Till the End of Time’ coming to PS4 this May 23

The international PlayStation 4 version of sci-fi JRPG “Star Ocean: Till the End of Time” will be available for download this May 23, according to Square Enix.

The digital download of the game will be priced at $20.99. As a PlayStation 4 game, it comes with new features, including share functionality, trophy support, and remote play. Of course, it also boasts enhanced graphics.

The PlayStation 4 re-release of “Star Ocean: Till the End of Time” was previously launched in Japan on March 31, 2017.

“Star Ocean: Till the End of Time” is set in 2858 AD. The Pangalactic Federation governs a galaxy that is home to numerous species of aliens and factions. The different races make use of advanced technology, as well as a form of magic known as symbology. The latter revolves around tattoos that give individuals the ability to make use of powerful spells.

In their quest to save the galaxy, main character Fayt Leingod, his childhood friend Sophia Esteed, and their companions will visit numerous locations, including underdeveloped planets and hi-tech space facilities. It will also put them in the crosshairs of some of the galaxy’s most dangerous entities.

“Star Ocean: Till the End of Time” is the third entry in the often-overlooked “Star Ocean” franchise developed by tri-Ace and published by Square Enix. It was originally launched for the PlayStation 2 in Japan in 2003, then re-released worldwide in 2004. While the original release was chockfull of bugs, the re-release was a polished gem of a game that garnered critical acclaim. It is now considered one of the best entries in the sci-fi JRPG series.

The game was succeeded by 2009’s “Star Ocean: The Last Hope,” and 2016’s “Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness.”
