Rampage 2017 to host LoL PGS Finals, Celebrity Showmatch, and more
Filipino eSports fans have a lot to look forward to this coming weekend, as major “League of Legends” event Rampage 2017 is heading to the World Trade Center, Pasay City, on July 30.
Since 2012, Rampage has played host to huge “League of Legends” tournaments and other related activities. Rampage 2017 will be no different. Game publisher Garena Philippines, which is responsible for Rampage, has announced that the Finals match of the Bacchus Pro Gaming Series (PGS) 2017 Summer Spit will happen at the event.
In addition, Rampage 2017 will see the return of the Celebrity Showmatch. This pits local celebrities against each other in a game of “League of Legends.” Last year’s Celebrity Showmatch featured cosplay queen, actress, and gamer Alodia Gosiengfiao as well as cosplayer, singer, and Animax Asia host Ashley Gosiengfiao, among others.
Ashley Gosiengfiao will also be participating at this year’s Celebrity Showmatch, where she will be joined by Eric Eruption formerly of the Philippine National Rugby Youth team, and more.
Rampage 2017 will also have a “League of Legends”-themed cosplay competition called Cosplay Clash. The winner will go home with a whopping PHP 40,000.
Event attendees will have the opportunity to play “League of Legends” while watching the program, thanks to the Play Zone and LAN Party areas, which will be located at the World Trade Center’s second floor Function Rooms. Play Zone will house 200 PC units which attendees can rent out for play. Alternatively, those who wish to bring their own PCs can go to the LAN Party area, which has enough space for 45 PC units. Large LED TVs will be installed in both areas so players can watch the event and play “League of Legends” simultaneously.
Other things to look forward to include the Merchandise Caravan, which will allow attendees to purchase various items related to “League of Legends,” and special appearances and performances by local artists, such as the rock band Rocksteddy.
On July 30, Rampage 2017 will open its doors at 8am, although the line is expected to start building up around 4am. The event will last until 10pm. It is anticipating over 13,000 attendees.
Last year’s Rampage saw the climactic finale of the “League of Legends” Pro Gaming Series 2016 Summer Split, where the celebrated Imperium Pro Team went head-to-head with relative newcomer from Iloilo Acclaim EmpireX. In a surprise upset, Imperium Pro Team lost the championship to Acclaim EmpireX.
