Nintendo announces release of more NES, SNES mini consoles

There's hope for those who missed out on Nintendo's retro release. The Japan-based video game company has announced that the “NES Classic Mini” will be seeing a return to store shelves in 2018.

According to a report by Kotaku, the move to bring back one of the most sought after consoles was due to popular demand. Only a limited supply was originally released, prompting some backlash from nostalgic gamers.

Meanwhile, the “Super NES Classic”, a miniaturized re-release of the 16-bit era Super NES, is slated to come out at the end of the month. Nintendo assured gamers that more consoles will be shipped out.

"Fans have shown their unbridled enthusiasm for these Classic Edition systems, so Nintendo is working to put many more of them on store shelves," their official statement, shared by Kotaku, read.

Since its release in November 2016, the NES Classic Mini has been a hot find in video game stores and retailers, selling for almost twice its original retail price in artificial markets. — AT, GMA News
