Lenovo, Disney collab to bring ‘Star Wars’ AR experience to the PHL

Tech company Lenovo and entertainment giant Disney have partnered up and on November 8 unveiled “Star Wars: Jedi Challenges”, an augmented reality experience that allows fans to immerse themselves into the science fantasy world populated by Jedi Masters, Dark Side followers, the brave fighters of the Rebel Alliance, and the tyrannical rulers of the Galactic Empire.

Powered by a Lenovo Mirage AR headset, a tracking beacon, and a perfectly sculpted Anakin Skywalker Lightsaber controller, "Jedi Challenges" features hours of Star Wars gameplay.

This includes Lightsaber Battles where players fight Stormtroopers and Sith Lords; playing a game of HoloChess like the holographic playset found onboard the Millennium Falcon; and taking charge of an army and commanding a battle between the Rebel Forces and Galactic Empire.

Equipping the Lenovo AR headset with your smartphone after downloading the free app and activating the lightsaber controller allows the user to enter the virtual reality simulator where players are guided by a new character called “The Archivist”.

This new character instructs you through the ways of the Force and how to properly become a Jedi, and offers tutorials to prepare for a fight against powerful villains like Kylo Ren and Darth Vader.

In addition to "Jedi Challenges", Lenovo also highlighted their impressive selection of Star Wars Special Edition Yoga 920 convertible laptops, which come in two versions — a white one with the Rebel Alliance logo and a black one etched with the symbol of the Galactic Empire.

Only 100 units of the device, which goes on sale this December, will be released by Lenovo. Interested buyers are advised to check out the Lenovo website
