8 gadget trends for 2018

Technology has swiftly evolved the past year and in 2018, it doesn't look like it will slow down. 

In a report by Unang Hirit on Tuesday, tech blogger Bob Reyes revealed a few gadget trends we can expect for the new year.

1. Bigger screens

According to Reyes, smartphones will continue to improve in 2018. Apart from its features, screens of newer versions of smartphones will have lesser boarders and thus, be bigger.

"Mas lumalaki yung area kung saan puwede magamit at puwede makakita 'yung gumagamit ng devices," he said.

2. Artificial Intelligence Capable mobile phones

Reyes said A.I. Capable smartphones can identify whether the object on a picture is a thing or a person.

"'Pag sinabi nating A.I. Capable ang ating smartphone meron siyang capabilidad para matuto habang ginagamit natin so meron ding sa software niya, mas intelligent na sila ngayon, nalalaman nila kung ang isang bagay ay bagay ba talaga o kung ito ay tao." he said.

3. Better language translation, photography and audio features

Apart from faster and more accurate language translations, photography features of smartphones will have automatic settings that will produce better photos. Audio features will continue to improve this year as well.

"Mas mapapaganda ang timpla ng let's say kulay o kaya yung setting ng camera automatic siyang maiaadjust, maiaadapt nung camera dahil nakaembed na sa software niya kung paano ittreat 'yung mga bagay bagay na nakikita sa kanyang lente," Reyes said.

4. Powerbank smartphones

One of the best things from the report? A smartphone with an insanely better batter capacity! According to Reyes, because of this better battery life, this smartphone can act as a battery pack or power bank if need be. 

5. Private Space

Reyes said a new feature called "Private Space" will be hyped up this year. This feature will give users an option to hide their personal data from other people who might check up on their phones.

"'Pag gumamit ka ng private space functionality sa iyong telepono, totally iba 'yung makikita ng ibang tao, 'yung private data, mga apps na ininstall mo, 'yung mga photos, 'yung mga messages ay nakatago sa ibang screen," he said.

6. Affordable powerful smartphones

If you're in a budget but you want a smartphone that's high technology,  affordable yet powerful smartphones will be released this year, it will feature higher memory and processor with duo front cameras that can capture higher resolution photos.

7. Augmented and Virtual Reality

Phones that support Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality will also be mass produced this year, making the technology more accessible to more people.

8. Wearable technology 

Smartwatch and other wearable technology like fitness trackers will continue to get a boost this year. Reyes is also looking at a new smartwatch design — analog clock exterior that features digital function — to trend this year.

Additionally, apps relating to transportation, health and fitness and logistics will also be dispatched for 2018. — LA, GMA News
