FIND OUT: Was your Facebook information shared with Cambridge Analytica?


The National Privacy Commission (NPC) has been coordinating with social media giant Facebook to calculate the effects of improper data sharing with political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica on users in the Philippines.

Some 1.1 million accounts were reportedly affected, with 558,000 Filipino users said to have installed the quiz app "My Digital Life."

Facebook through their Help Center has provided a quick way to check if your data privacy has been violated.

On your desktop, click on the question mark icon on the top right corner. A search bar will be available on the drop down menu, where you can type the word "Cambridge."

Click on the "See more about 'Cambridge'" on the bottom.

 


You will be taken to the Help Center page with two articles. Click on the first article, "How can I tell if my info was shared with Cambridge Analytica?"

The next page will briefly explain what happened between Facebook and Cambridge Analytica and inform the users if s/he or anyone s/he is connected to on Facebook installed "This Is Your Digital Life."

Users have the option of reviewing and updating the information you share with apps and websites via Settings.

 


On mobile, press the left-most bottom icon (where you access your own profile information) and scroll all the way down to the bottom to find the Help and Support page.

Click on Help Center on the popup menu and proceed to type "Cambridge" on the search bar.

The first article will lead you to the page that will briefly explain what happened between Facebook and Cambride Analytica and inform the you if your friends installed "This Is Your Digital Life."

 


The Philippines is the second most affected country by the impromper data sharing in terms of total number accounts, NPC Commissioner Raymund Liboro told reporters at a briefing in Pasay City.
