Digify banking on Japan for overseas expansion

Digify Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of GMA New Media Inc. (NMI), on Tuesday said it is looking to Japan for its plans to outsource services in foreign markets.

In a statement, Digify — along with Philippine officials — headed to Japan to explore the possibility of developing offshore markets.

"The Philippine software industry has already established a solid reputation for being innovative and world class. That is why first-world nations like Japan choose the Philippines to outsource their requirements for system and application development and other business functions," Digify General Manager Evert Chris Miranda said in the statement.

Digify Inc. is a techno-creative lab that specializes in sensor technologies such as augmented reality and beacon or proximity marketing, multimedia content production, and end-to-end software solutions for standalone digital and integrated marketing campaigns.

Earlier this month, Digify joined the Philippine delegation supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for the 28th Japan IT Week in Tokyo.

"It was a distinct honor and privilege for Digify to be a part of the Philippine mission to the biggest IT event in Japan, one that has drawn over 120 Japanese companies that have already expressed interest to work and co-create with the Filipino service providers," Miranda said.

"I have met with companies who are keen on getting Digify on-board. Exciting times are up ahead. Thanks to the government agencies and PSIA (Philippine Software Industry Association) for making all this possible," she added.

According to Digify, its membership to the PSIA is "essential" in achieving its goal of developing offshore markets. — BAP/MDM, GMA News
