Users can now add songs to their Facebook Stories — and soon, to their profiles as well
On top of the like, love and a bunch of emoji buttons, social media giant Facebook took another step in keeping up with its billion-strong users' mood and personality by allowing them to add songs to their Facebook Stories starting October 25 and, soon, also to their profiles.
In a statement posted over its Newsroom page, Facebook announced that users can add a song as a backdrop for their Facebook Stories by taking a photo or video from the Facebook Camera or their camera roll, tapping on the sticker icon, and selecting the music sticker.
Once the user finds the song they want to add, they can choose which part to add the sticker with the corresponding artist and song name of their choice.
Users will also soon be able to add songs to their profile via a new music section.
They will also have the option to pin a song to the top of their profile to share with friends.
“Moments are remembered and accentuated with music, and we can’t wait to see all the ways people around the world get creative with these features, make memories, and have fun with friends and family,” Fred Beteille, Facebook's head of Product, Music and Rights and Tamara Hrivnak, head of Music Business Development and Partnerships, said in a statement.
Songs added on a user's Facebook profile will also visually showcase the artist. In the event that another user plays the song on your profile page, they will hear a clip of the song and see an accompanying video featuring photos of the artists and album art. They can then choose to add the song to their own profile too, or visit the artist’s Facebook Page.
Based on Facebook records, there are 1.47 billion daily active users on Facebook as of June 2018.
