Bulacan college creates robotic alcohol dispenser using Legos
A college in Bulacan, using Lego interlocking plastic bricks, created a robotic alcohol dispenser that would maintain social distancing amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The dispenser was created in just two days by the head of the Robotics Program at the Dr. Yanga's Colleges Incorporated, according to Jamie Santos' Saturday report on 24 Oras Weekend.
"'Yung frontliners natin 'yung mga public servant din natin diyan, specially halimbawa nasa palengke, magkakaroon din sila ng distance, magkakaroon din sila ng kahit papaano protection, di ba, pagka-ginamit nila ito," Beryl Cruz said.
The dispenser is encased in a clear square container. Similar to other dispensers, users need only to place their hands below a sensor, and the device would dispense alcohol for hand sanitizing.
According to the report, the dispenser could be battery operated or plugged into an electrical outlet for longer use.
The dispensers were distributed in areas usually visited by people such as markets, hospitals, and churches.
"Malaking tulong dahil unang-una, mas safe siya compared doon sa ikaw mismo 'yung mag-pump dahil syempre iba't ibang tao 'yung hahawak n'un," a resident said.
Aside from this, the institution also gave away improvised face shields to medical frontliners.
There are 16 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province of Bulacan.
