Tail-end of frontal system, Amihan to bring cloudy skies, rains over Philippines

The tail-end of a frontal system and the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan will cast cloudy skies with light rains over the Philippines within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said late Sunday afternoon.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau said the tail-end of a frontal system was affecting the eastern section of Visayas while the Amihan was affecting Luzon.

Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms were forecast over Visayas, Palawan, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers were also seen to prevail over the rest of Mindanao.

PAGASA advised residents of these areas to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with light rains should be expected over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, Aurora, and Quezon.

The Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

No significant impact is expected in these areas. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
