New healthcare data platform for children launched
A new application was launched on Thursday to help parents keep track of their children's healthcare records.
Introduced by Filipino startup MILA Business Solutions Corp., the MILA app contains features such as digital vaccination records, medication and appointment reminders, and personalized health notes.
"Many parents face difficulties in managing their child's health history. This obstacle often results in inefficient healthcare management, potential medical errors, and challenges in accessing accurate information when they need it the most,'' MILA chief marketing officer Ma. Jezzika Kierulf said at a press conference in Taguig City.
She said their company survey showed 64% of Filipino mothers struggled to recall key details of their child's medical history during medical appointments, and 50% have misplaced their baby book more than once.
''This alarming trend underscores the critical need for a solution like MILA to streamline healthcare management for our youngest and most vulnerable population,'' Kierulf said.
MILA chief executive officer Faustino Salvador Jr. assured potential users that the app, currently available for download on its website for Android users, is secure.
''The data is being encrypted while in transit, and at the same time, the storage is also encrypted. It's encrypted on both ends, and it follows international security standards,'' he said.
In the next four years, Salvador said the company plans to add features such as teleconsultation, online pharmacies, and a digital wallet and dashboard.
The MILA app is supported by Pulse 63, a growth-focused accelerator and healthcare venture arm of Kaya Founders. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
