How to avoid QR Code Scams, QR Code phishing

Store owners in Cavite recently fell victims to QR Code scam and losing more than P23,000, the report of Ian Cruz on "State of the Nation" provides tips to avoid being scammed.

Cruz explained that QR Code scams or QR Phishing is performed by scammers by replacing legitimate QR codes with malicious links to steal funds or personal data.

In order to avoid falling victim to this modus, the PNP anti-Cybercrime Group has listed some tips to follow:

• Avoid scanning QR Codes from unknown sources.
• Check the URL before entering information.
• Do not just give out OTP and personal details
• Only use official apps and verified websites
