Tuguegarao temp hits 36 degrees Celsius, year’s highest so far

The hottest day so far this year fell on Wednesday, as temperatures soared to 36 degrees Celsius, state weather agency PAGASA said.

PAGASA said the 36-degree Celsius temperature was recorded in Tuguegarao City in Cagayan province at 2:05 p.m.

It surpassed the 35.5 degrees Celsius recorded last Monday, March 30.

Last March 16, Tuguegarao City sweltered at 35 degrees Celsius.

However, temperatures are still likely to rise in the coming days as the dry (summer) season has officially started.

The country may also expect hotter weather in the coming months due to below-average rainfall due to El Niño. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
