Typhoon Wutip may possibly enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this week, PAGASA said on on Sunday.
"Base sa ating mga data na nakalap ngayon, posible pong pumasok ang bagyong Wutip sa Philippine Area of Responsibility. Inaasahan ito sa Miyerkules, February 27, or Huwebes, February 28," PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in a forecast.
Wutip will bear the local name Betty once it enters PAR, he added.
At 3 p.m. on Sunday, the typhoon was located 1,940 kilometers east of Southern Luzon.
It has maximum sustained winds of 185 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 225 kph.
Typhoon Wutip is moving northwest at the speed of 10 kph.
Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan continues to affect the whole country.
"Makakaranas pa rin tayo ng malamig na simoy ng hangin sa gabi at sa madaling araw," Aurelio said.
