Typhoon Wutip maintains strength, still outside PAR
Typhoon Wutip has maintained its strength as it slowly moves north-northwest, but is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to PAGASA on Monday.
As of 3 p.m., the eye of Typhoon Wutip was located at 1,725 kilometers east of southern Luzon. The storm is carrying maximum sustained winds of 185 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 225 kph.
"Base sa data na ating nakalap, posibleng pumasok sa ating Philippine Area of Responsibility itong si Typhoon Wutip," PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in a forecast.
It will be locally named Betty once it enters PAR, he added.
The state weather bureau previously projected the possible entry of Typhoon Wutip into the PAR by Wednesday or Thursday this week.
Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan continues to affect the whole country.
Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, and Davao Oriental may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain.
