Metro Manila may experience 39°C heat index on Palm Sunday — PAGASA


PAGASA said Metro Manila is seen to experience a heat index of 39 degrees Celsius on Palm Sunday, GMA News’ Balitanghali reported on Sunday.

Heat index is the measure that indicates the level of discomfort the average person feels due to high temperature.

Metro Manila residents could experience heat cramps and heat exhaustion due to the hot weather. Continuing activity could result in heat stroke.

On Saturday in Metro Manila, heat indexes of over 40°C of heat index were recorded in different PAGASA stations. The highest heat index was recorded at 40.8°C in Science Garden in Quezon City.

A 46.3°C heat index was recorded in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, 46.1 °C in Daet, Camarines Norte, while 45.2°C in Ambulong, Batangas.

Despite the hot weather,  rain is still expected over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley region and Central Luzon, PAGASA said. — Joviland Rita/BM, GMA News
