50.8°C ‘init factor’ hits Guiuan, Eastern Samar

The highest init factor was recorded on Thursday in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

According to PAGASA, the heat index in Guiuan hit a sweltering 50.8°C at 11 a.m.

In his report for 24 Oras, GMA News' resident meteorologist Nathaniel Cruz said PAGASA also picked up a high heat index of 46.2°C in Ambulong, Batangas at 11 a.m.n and 45.3°C in Dagupan, Pangasinan  at 2 p.m.

The weather bureau said cloudy skies and rains are expected in parts of Luzon on Friday, particularly in Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands.

Metro Manila may also experience an init factor of 40°C at noon on Friday, but rains and thunderstorms are possible during the evening. —Margaret Claire Layug/LDF, GMA News
