Init factor reaches 45.1 degrees Celsius at NAIA


The heat index or "init factor" reached 45.1 degrees Celsius at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City on Sunday, PAGASA said, according to a report on GMA News TV's News To Go.

It was 42.8 degrees Celsius, on the other hand, in Port Area in Manila, and 41 degrees Celsius at Science Garden in Quezon City.

Metro Manila will continue to have hot and humid weather on Monday, but rain showers or localized thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon.

The init factor may reach 42 degrees Celsius in Tuguegarao City on Monday, and 41 degrees Celsius in Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija, Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro, and Legazpi City in Albay.

The heat index may also reach 40 degrees Celsius in Cebu City, Catbalogan City in Samar, and Cotabato City.

The heat index is the temperature the body feels, compared to the actual air temperature.

According to the rainfall forecast of Metraweather, Northern and Central Luzon as well as some parts of Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western and Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, BARMM, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Soccsksargen will have rain showers in the next few hours. —KG, GMA News
