TO EXIT PAR WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Dodong speeds up as it moves north; another LPA spotted near Coron —PAGASA

Tropical Depression Dodong has increased its speed to 30 kilometers per hour as it continues to move northward on Wednesday afternoon, according to PAGASA.

As of  4 p.m., Dodong's center was located at 755 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kilometers per hour.

"Hindi inaasahang tatama sa anumang bahagi ng kalupaan itong si Dodong at wala itong direktang epekto sa ating bansa—hinihila po itong ating Habagat," PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Rojas said.

Dodong is expected to exit the  Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the state weather bureau said that a low-pressure area is being monitored 435 kilometers west-northwest of Coron, Palawan.

The said weather system is embedded within the Monsoon Trough, according to PAGASA.

Another LPA outside the PAR was also spotted 1,680 kilometers east of Mindanao as of 3 p.m.

PAGASA said that its chance of developing into a tropical depression is low in the next 24 to 48 hours. It is expected to enter PAR on Saturday.

Metro Manila, the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and the Visayas may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

The rest of the country may also experience isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said. — RSJ, GMA News
