Falcon maintains strength; Signal No. 1 up over Isabela, Cagayan, Batanes
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 has been raised over northern Isabela, Cagayan, and Batanes as Tropical Depression Falcon maintained its strength moving westward over the Philippine Sea, PAGASA reported in its Severe Weather Bulletin issued early Tuesday morning.
At 4 a.m., Falcon was estimated at 690 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan with maximum winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 65 kph, and moving westward at 30 kph.
MIMAROPA, western Visayas, Albay, Masbate, Sorsogon, and northern Samar will have light to moderate with occasional heavy monsoon rains.
On Wednesday, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Zambales, Bataan, and Mindoro will have moderate to heavy rains due to the combined effects of Falcon and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, western Visayas, and the rest of central Luzon and MIMAROPA will have light to moderate with occasional heavy monsoon rains.
On Thursday, the Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan and Mindoro will have moderate to heavy rains while Metro Manila, CALABARZON, and the rest of central Luzon and MIMAROPA will have light to moderate with occasional heavy monsoon rains.
The weather bureau warned residents in the affected areas, especially in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas to take precautionary measures, coordinate with local disaster and risk management offices, and monitor updates.
Fisherfolk and those with small seacrafts are advised against venturing out over the seaboards, especially areas under Typhoon Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1, the eastern seaboards of southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Falcon is expected to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday or 435 kilometers north northwest of Basco, Batanes. — BAP/KG, GMA News
