Monsoon rains affecting Luzon; LPA's trough to bring rains to Visayas, Bicol

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring rains to western Luzon while the trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA) is affecting Visayas and Bicol, bringing rains as well on Saturday, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.

Monsoon rains will be experienced in Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Metro Manila, Mimaropa, and Calabarzon.

The LPA located early Saturday morning at 1,135 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes has no direct effect yet on the country, but its trough or extension is affecting Visayas, Bicol Region, Caraga, and Northern Mindanao.

These areas will be cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Cagayan Valley and Mindanao, meanwhile, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with possibility of rain due to localized thunderstorms.

A tropical storm with the international name Francisco located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is still too far to affect the country. It is not expected to enter PAR.

The LPA east of Virac, Catanduanes, meanwhile, may become a tropical depression on Sunday or Monday. It will then be called "Hannah.

PAGASA does not foresee this weather disturbance to make landfall.

The weather bureau raised the gale warning (2.8-4.6m waves expected) since the southwest monsoon will make coastal waters moderate to rough in the following coastal areas:

• La Union
• Pangasinan
• Zambales
• Bataan
• Occidental Mindoro
• Northern Palawan

The rest of the country's coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

• Puerto Princesa: 25ºC-32ºC
• Iloilo/Bacolod: 25ºC-31ºC
• Metro Cebu: 24ºC-32ºC
• Tacloban: 24ºC-31ºC
• Cagayan de Oro: 25ºC-33ºC
• Valencia: 21ºC-28ºC
• Metro Davao: 26ºC-31ºC
• Zamboanga: 26ºC-33ºC
