Marilyn, southwest monsoon to bring rainshowers over Metro Manila


Metro Manila will have cloudy skies, scattered rainshowers, and thunderstorms brought about by Tropical Depression Marilyn and the southwest monsoon, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

As of 3 a.m., the center of Tropical Depression Marilyn was estimated at 1,070 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Marilyn is moving in the northwest direction at 20 kph.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by Tropical Depression Marilyn and the southwest monsoon.

The wind speed forecast for the northern and eastern section of Mindanao is strong and moving in the southwest direction while coastal waters will be rough.

For eastern and central Visayas, wind speed forecast is strong moving southwestward while coastal water will remain rough.

The forecast wind speed for the rest of southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be moderate to strong moving southwest as coastal waters remain moderate to rough.

The wind speed forecast for the rest of Luzon is moderate moving in the northeast to northwest direction while coastal water will be moderate. — BAP, GMA News
