2 LPAs, ITCZ to bring scattered rains to Metro Manila, other parts of PHL


A Low Pressure Area (LPA) was monitored embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) was estimated at 135 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, early Saturday morning by PAGASA.

Another LPA has been located within the ITCZ and is estimated at 185 kilometers West of Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte.

In addition the northeast monsoon, the weather bureau adds, will be affecting northern Luzon.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by both the LPAs and the ITCZ.

Residents in these areas are warned that flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms. PAGASA adds that isolated flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

The forecast wind speed in northern Luzon is moderate to strong moving northeastward while coastal waters will be moderate to rough

For the rest of Luzon, the forecast wind speed is light to moderate and moving to the east to northeast direction. Coastal waters in the region will be slight to moderate.

In the Visayas, the forecast wind speed is light to moderate moving northeast to northwest while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.

The forecast wind speed in Mindanao is light to moderate moving northwest to southwest direction with coastal waters slight to moderate. — BAP, GMA News
