TS Ramon to make landfall in northern Cagayan soon —PAGASA
Tropical Storm Ramon is expected to make landfall over northern Cagayan between Monday evening and Tuesday morning, PAGASA said Sunday night.
According to the state weather bureau’s 11 p.m. bulletin, the center of Ramon was last seen 220 kilometers east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora moving west at 15 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
The state weather agency has raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 over most of northeastern Luzon.
The following areas are under TCWS No. 2, with 61-120 kph winds expected in 24 hours:
- Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), and
- northern portion of Isabela (Sta. Maria, San Pablo, Maconacon, Cabagan, Sto. Tomas, Quezon, Delfino Albano, Tumauini, and Divilacan).
The following areas are under TCWS No. 1, with 30-60 kph wind expected in 36 hours:
- Batanes,
- Ilocos Norte,
- Abra,
- Apayao,
- Kalinga,
- Mt. Province,
- Ifugao,
- Northern Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, and Dinalungan), and
- the rest of Isabela.
On Tuesday evening, Ramon will move to La Paz, Abra, while on Wednesday, it is forecast to arrive at Iba, Zambales.
The tropical storm is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday evening.
Rain
On Monday, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains should be expected by residents of Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), and Apayao, while light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains were forecast over Ilocos Norte, Abra, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Quirino, and Northern Aurora.
On Tuesday, residents of Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), Apayao, Abra, and Ilocos Norte should anticipate light to moderate with occasional heavy rains, while light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains are to be expected over Batanes, Ilocos Sur, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Quirino, and Northern Aurora.
PAGASA advised residents of these areas to take precautionary measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring updates.
Sea travel was also declared as risky, especially for small sea craft.
Meanwhile, the low pressure area being monitored by PAGASA was last seen 1,945 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. It is expected to enter the PAR on Tuesday. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
