Tropical Storm Ursula enters PAR

Tropical Storm Ursula (international name: Phanfone) entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 5 a.m. on Monday, PAGASA said.

In its 5 a.m. weather forecast, PAGASA said Eastern Visayas, Northeastern Mindanao and the southern part of Bicol will feel Ursula's gusty winds and rains by Tuesday.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals may be raised.

Ursula is expected to make landfall in Visayas and some parts of Southern Luzon.

As of early Monday morning, Ursula's eye or center was located 1,000 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

It has maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Ursula is moving west northwest at 20 kph.

On Tuesday, Dec. 24, Ursula's eye or center is forecast to move closer to the landmass.

The tropical storm may possibly intensify into a severe tropical storm before making landfall in Eastern Visayas.

On Wednesday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day, Ursula will traverse Central Visayas, Western Visayas then exit Southern Luzon.

On Monday, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have fair weather, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

No gale warning has been raised.

Coastal waters in the eastern section of Luzon will be moderate to rough with waves reaching up to 2.8 meters.

Elsewhere in the country, coastal waters will be slight to moderate, with waves reaching up to 2.1 meters.
