Amihan, LPA to bring cloudy skies, rain across Philippines —PAGASA

The Northeast Monsoon or Amihan and the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) currently affecting Visayas and Eastern Mindanao are forecast to bring cloudy skies and rains over the Philippines within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Sunday.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau said the LPA was last located 670 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

The LPA is unlikely to develop into a cyclone, PAGASA said.

Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorm should be expected over Caraga, Eastern Visayas, and Central Visayas due to the trough of the LPA.

In Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Quezon, cloudy skies with light rains were forecast due to the Amihan.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will persist over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon also due to the Amihan.

As for the rest of country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers were forecast due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised the public to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
