LPA to bring rains, thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Oriental — PAGASA

The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Oriental on Thursday, PAGASA said on Wednesday.

In its 24-hour weather update, the weather bureau advised residents of affected areas against possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered moderate to at times heavy rains.

The LPA was estimated at 850 kilometers east of Davao City at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the Northeast Monsoon, the weather bureau said.

Localized thunderstorms are meanwhile expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over the rest of Mindanao, it added.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to severe thunderstorms.

The temperature in Metro Manila reached as low as 20°C at 6:50 a.m. on Wednesday and reached as high as 30.4°C at 12:00 p.m.

Due to strong to gale force winds associated with the surge of the Northeast Monsoon, gale warnings are raised over the following areas:

  • Batanes
  • Babuyan
  • Calayan
  • Cagayan
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Isabela

It is also raised over the coast of extreme Northern Quezon General Nakar, the northern coast of Polillo Islands Panukulan and Burdeos, the northern and eastern coast of Catanduanes, the eastern coast of Rapu-Rapu Islands, the eastern coast of Sorsogon Prieto Diaz, Gubat, Barcelona, the northern and eastern coast of Northern Samar, and the eastern coast of Eastern Samar.
