Trough of LPA to bring rains, thunderstorms on Saturday —PAGASA

The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) east of the Philippines is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Caraga, Davao, and Western and Central Visayas on Saturday, PAGASA said Friday.

In its 24-hour weather update, the weather bureau cautioned residents against possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered moderate to at times heavy rains.

At 3 p.m. on Friday, the LPA was estimated at 235 kilometers southwest of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon is expected to bring cloudy skies with light rains over Metro Manila, the regions of Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, and Bicol, as well as the provinces of Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Marinduque, Romblon, and Mindoro.

The same weather system may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the rest of Luzon.

Localized thunderstorms may meanwhile bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over the rest of the country.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides.

Due to strong to gale force winds associated with the surge of the Northeast Monsoon, gale warnings are raised over Batanes, Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), Isabela, Aurora, and Ilocos Norte.
