LPA to bring scattered rains, thunderstorms over Bicol, Visayas, Palawan on Sunday

A low-pressure area (LPA) is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Bicol, Visayas, and Palawan on Sunday, PAGASA said Saturday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the state weather bureau warned affected residents against possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered moderate to, at times, heavy rains.

At 3 p.m., the LPA was estimated at 355 kilometers west-northwest of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur or 155 km east-southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Meanwhile, warm winds from the Pacific Ocean called the Easterlies is expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The Easterlies has no significant effect on the country, according to PAGASA.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers may also prevail over Mindanao due to localized thunderstorms.

The state bureau warned against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Due to expected moderate to rough sea conditions, gale warnings are raised over Batanes, Babuyan, Calayan, Cagayan, Isabela, the northern and western coast of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small seacraft against sea voyage while larger sea vessels were alerted against big waves. — Joahna Lei Casilao/MDM, GMA News
