ITCZ to bring scattered rains, thunderstorms over Mindanao


A Low Pressure Area (LPA) was spotted early Friday morning at 695 kilometers east southeast of Davao City and embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) which will be affecting Mindanao, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

The entire island of Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the ITCZ. The weather bureau added that flash floods or landslides may occur due to severe thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to the Easterlies / localized thunderstorm.

The wind speed in the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao will be moderate to strong moving in the northeast to north direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The wind speed for the rest of the country will be light to moderate moving in the east to northeast direction while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate. -- BAP, GMA News
