Trough of Tropical Depression Ambo to bring scattered rains, thunderstorms in Mindanao


Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms on Tuesday due to the trough of Tropical Depression Ambo, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.

The weather bureau added that flash floods or landslides may occur due to at times to heavy rainshowers.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers brought about by localized thunderstorms, with the possible occurrence of flash floods or landslides due to severe thunderstorms.

The center of Ambo was estimated at 285 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 340 km east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte at 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Ambo, which has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h, is moving towards the north northwest at 15 km/h.

The wind speed in the Visayas, Southern Luzon, and Caraga will be moderate to strong and moving in the northeast to northwest direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

In northern and central Luzon, the wind speed forecast is light to moderate moving in the southeast to south direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

Coastal waters in the rest of Mindanao will be slight to moderate.
