Legazpi City records day’s highest heat index at 50°C

Wednesday's highest heat index, or the human-perceived temperature, was recorded at PAGASA's synoptic station in Legazpi City at 50°C, the state weather bureau said.

This was followed by the Sangley Point, Cavite City with 47°C; the Science City of Munoz and Ambulong, Tanauan City with 46°C; and the Port Area, Manila and Rozas City with 45°C.

PAGASA reiterated the dangers associated with a heat index of 41°C to 54°C such as possible heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which may lead to heat stroke amid continued physical activity.

Meanwhile, the PAGASA station at the Science Garden, Quezon City once again recorded a heat index of 43°C at 3 p.m.

A maximum temperature of 35°C was also recorded at the same time.
