Legazpi City sizzles with 49°C heat index
The highest heat index forecast in the country for the day was recorded in PAGASA's synoptic station in Legazpi City, Albay at 49°C, the weather bureau said Monday.
This is followed by the readings in the stations in Ambulong in Tanauan City with 48°C and Guiuan in Eastern Samar with 47°C.
Dagupan City, Roxas City, Sangley Point in Cavite City and Tuguegarao City, meanwhile, all experienced 45°C each.
PAGASA warned that a heat index ranging from 41°C to 54°C may lead to heat cramps and exhaustion.
Heat stroke is also possible amid continuous physical activity, it added.

Meanwhile, the PAGASA station at the Science Garden in Quezon City recorded a heat index of 38°C at 1:30 p.m.
A maximum temperature of 34.8°C was also recorded in the area at the same time. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
