Legazpi City sizzles with 49°C heat index

The highest heat index forecast in the country for the day was recorded in PAGASA's synoptic station in Legazpi City, Albay at 49°C, the weather bureau said Monday.

This is followed by the readings in the stations in Ambulong in Tanauan City with 48°C and Guiuan in Eastern Samar with 47°C.

Dagupan City, Roxas City, Sangley Point in Cavite City and Tuguegarao City, meanwhile, all experienced 45°C each.

PAGASA warned that a heat index ranging from 41°C to 54°C may lead to heat cramps and exhaustion.

Heat stroke is also possible amid continuous physical activity, it added.
