Cloudy skies, scattered rains in Zambales, Bataan, Palawan due to southwest monsoon


The southwest monsoon will be affecting the western section of Luzon on Saturday, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

Zambales, Bataan, and Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon. The weather bureau adds that flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to scattered moderate with at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms and flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Butchoy or Tropical Storm Nuri is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility and is estimated 445 kilometers west of northern Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center with gustiness of up to 80 kph and moving in the west northwest direction at a speed of 15 kph.

The wind speed forecast for the western section of Luzon is moderate to strong moving in the southwest to south direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The wind speed forecast for the rest of Luzon and the Visayas is light to moderate moving in the southeast to south direction while coastal will be slight to moderate.

Mindanao wind speed will be light to moderate moving in the east to southeast direction while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.
