ITCZ to bring scattered rains, thunderstorms over Mindanao

PAGASA weather forecast thunderstorms rain showers

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers, or thunderstorms over the Zamboanga Peninsula in Mindanao, Western Visayas, Mindoro, and Palawan, PAGASA said Saturday.

In its 24-hour weather forecast, the state weather agency warned of possible flash floods or landslides in some areas cause by moderate to at times heavy rains.

Localized thunderstorms may meanwhile bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

PAGASA said flash floods and landslides are also possible.

Meanwhile, the synoptic station at the Science Garden in Quezon City recorded a minimum temperature of 26°C at 6 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 32.8°C at 1:50 p.m.

Moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds are expected over Tarlac, Pampanga, and Nueva Ecija within the next two hours, warned PAGASA.

In its 3:50 p.m. advisory, the weather agency said the weather condition is also being experienced in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Zambales, Batangas, Quezon, and Rizal, which may persist within two hours and affect nearby areas.

Specific areas affected include Quezon City, Caloocan, Navotas, Valenzuela, Malabon, Manila; the towns of Pandi, Bustos, General Trias, Tanza, San Narciso, San Marcelino, San Felipe, Iba, Botolan, Nasugbu, Tuy, Candelaria, Tagkawayan, Rodriguez, San Mateo, and Antipolo.

Affected residents are advised to take precautionary measures against flash floods and landslides. —LBG, GMA News
