Pillars of light spotted in Cebu skies
Pillars of light appeared in Cebu's night skies, enchanting those who were lucky enough to catch it.
Photographer John Reco Estrera said the pillars would always pop up over the skies of Kinatarkan Island in Daanbantayan from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. during this cold season.
He said it was the second time he witnessed it in the northernmost tip of Cebu province.
Vlogger Junie Mar Mayol Lopez of The Adventurer of North meanwhile stumbled upon the gorgeous sight when he was looking to capture the Milky Way.
As to how this phenomenon comes about, PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario explains, "Ang nangyari kasi dyan, mayroon silang clear skies. 'Yung manipis na cirrus clouds, mayroong ice crystals. 'Yun 'yung nag-reflect ng ilaw galing sa buwan."
Just this June, pillars of light were also spotted in Masbate City.
