PAGASA: LPA, southwest monsoon to bring rains, thunderstorms over Philippines

A low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon are expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms over CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, and the provinces of Aurora and Camarines, PAGASA said Wednesday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to occasional heavy rains.

At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the LPA was estimated at 35 kilometers north northwest of  Daet, Camarines Norte.

The LPA and southwest monsoon will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas, and the Zamboanga Peninsula.

PAGASA said flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms may prevail over the rest of Mindanao due to the southwest monsoon.

Flash flood or landslides are also possible.

PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are being experienced in Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales, which may persist within two hours and affect nearby areas.

In its advisory, affected residents are advised to take precautionary measures against flash floods or landslides. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
