LPA, southwest monsoon to bring rains over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA


As of early Thursday morning, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was at 50 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales while the southwest monsoon affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, PAGASA reported.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA will experience monsoon rains brought about by the LPA / southwest monsoon. Flash floods or landslides may occur in the areas due to moderate to occasional heavy rains.

Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, SOCCSKSARGEN, Davao Region and the rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to LPA / southwest monsoon while flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

The rest of country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon. The weather bureau warns that flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for Luzon is moderate to strong moving in the southwest to south direction while coastal waters will be moderate to strong.

In the Visayas and Mindanao, wind speed forecast is light to moderate moving southwestward while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
