Cloudy skies, scattered rains, thunderstorms over Mindanao, eastern Visayas due to the trough of the LPA


The Low Pressure Area (LPA) early Tuesday morning was estimated at 360 kilometers east southeast of Davao City but it is the effects of the southwest monsoon that will be felt in northern Luzon, PAGASA reported.

Mindanao and eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought about by the trough of the LPA. The weather bureau warns that flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas during severe thunderstorms.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Group of Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon with the possibility that flash floods or landslides may during severe thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms and flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms

Meanwhile, Typhoon Hagupit (formerly Tropical Storm Dindo) was estimated at 3 a.m. on Tuesday  810 kilometers north of extreme northern Luzon outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). packing maximum winds of 130 kilometers per hour near the center with gustiness of up to 180 kph and moving north northwest at 20 kph.

The wind speed forecast for northern and western sections of Luzon is moderate to strong moving in the southwest to south direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The forecast for the rest of Luzon is moderate and moving in the southeast to south direction while coastal waters will remain moderate.

In the Visayas, the wind forecast is slight to moderate moving in the east to northeast direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

The wind forecast in Mindanao is slight to moderate and moving in the northeast to northwest with slight to moderate coastal waters.
